Investing in Next Generation Rebond Foam: Federal Eco Foam’s New Cutting and Slitting Machinery
In the final part of our “Investing in Next Generation Rebond Foam” blogs, we highlight our new state-of-the-art vertical and horizontal cutting machinery, and how these upgrades expand capacity and improve performances whilst processing our rebond foam.
Federal Eco Foam launched our new vertical and horizontal cutting devices, marking the final bonding line upgrades for this year. This new equipment is the last stage of the bonding process where our rebond foam blocks are clean cut-to-size before shipping to customers or to being further slit into sheets within our own operations.
New Cutting Equipment Supports Converters & Technical Foam Specialists
For many years, Federal Eco Foam has supported converters and technical foam specialists in a diverse range of markets, supplying rebond foam blocks, sheets, strips and profiles cut to specifications. Rebond foam is one of the most versatile foam types in existence with its open-cell structure and desirable properties in elasticity and comfort, dynamic stiffness, crush resistance, sound and thermal insulation, and shock cushioning.

At Federal Eco Foam, our converting department cuts rebond foam blocks, sheets or profiles for applications such as acoustical panels, packaging, expansion cushions, upholstery, bedding and the cores for our world-renowned sports mats. The vertical cutter first clean cuts the blocks into the desired length and width.
Our new machinery ensures tighter tolerances and more accurate dimensions, providing our customers with foam products that better meet their specifications. The horizontal cutter, also known as a splitter in the foam industry, cuts the required thickness of the sheets, strips and profiles. Cleaner, smoother cuts improve the final product appearance and performance, especially important for applications requiring uniformity and consistency.

What the New Cutting Equipment Means for Federal Eco Foam & our Customers
The new splitter expands our cutting range from 3 mm to 200 mm, a range in rebond foam that sets us apart from other manufacturers and allows us to support more challenging applications. Both machines help us to expand our capacity, reducing lead times and improving delivery reliability. Additionally, modern equipment lessens our carbon footprint with improved energy efficiency, contributing to both cost savings and a more sustainable production process in line with our environmental commitments.
